3 cocktails for an unusual homemade aperitivo

For the Saper Fare [Home Edition] column, Soul Kitchen has given us the recipes for three easy drinks to mix at home while we wait to be able to sip and sup together under Manifattura’s smoke stack.

No previous mixology skills required: the directions are simple and straightforward and ingredients can be found in almost any supermarket.

Rossini “corretto”

Ingredients

  • One bowl of strawberries
  • 4 spoons of sugar
  • Half a lemon
  • Prosecco or white wine
  • A few drops balsamic vinegar

Preparation

Juice half a lemon. Using an electric mixer, blend the strawberries with the sugar and the lemon juice. Pour two spoons of the blend into a glass, and add prosecco or white wine until it is full. Stir to mix, and garnish with two drops of balsamic vinegar.

Michelada

Ingredients
– 33 cl Lager beer
– Half a lemon
– A a small plate of salt
– A few drops of Tabasco sauce

Preparation
Wet the edges of a beer glass and cover evenly with salt. Juice half a lemon, and pour the juice into the glass with two drops of Tabasco sauce. Add the beer and stir delicately.

Hot Pot

Ingredients for 1 cocktail
– 5 cl dark rum, brandy, or cognac
– Lemon and orange rinds
– Cinnamon
– 1 spoon sugar (optional)
– 1 teabag (any type of black tea will do, for example English Breakfast)

Preparation
Pour all the ingredients in a teapot and add hot (but not boiling) water. Infuse for two minutes before serving.
