Exhibition | MOM – Museo Oltre il Museo

Opening | Thursday 11th December at 12.00 pm at the loggia of Piazza delle Sigaraie, Manifattura Tabacchi

The exhibition can be visited free of charge from 11th December to 25th January

The exhibition presents the results of the two-year research project (2023–2025) carried out by DIDA Unifi and the Accademia Di Belle Arti on the future of exhibition spaces. The exhibition is divided into three thematic areas and takes the city of Florence as its main case study. Design experiments of various kinds explore temporary and distributed museum spaces, such as small pavilions designed for symbolic locations across the city, alongside a dynamic and innovative contemporary museum conceived not only as a place of display but also as a venue for activities and performances, imagined within the former power plant of Manifattura Tabacchi.

The MOM project also investigates the theme of recovering the intangible value of cultural heritage located outside the museum space, taking as an emblematic case study the ancient Armenian artistic and architectural heritage—now largely disappeared—belonging to the Autonomous Republic of Nakhichevan.

The exhibition takes place at the Santa Teresa campus of the DIDA Department of Architecture of the Università di Firenze, at the loggia of Piazza delle Sigaraie in Manifattura Tabacchi, and subsequently at the historic headquarters of the Accademia di Belle Arti of Florence.
