DISCOVER RIFÒ
Rifò is an eco-sustainable and regenerated fashion brand born in 2017, when the founder, Niccolò Cipriani, was in Vietnam working for a United Nations programme.
There, he had the opportunity to see up close the effects of overproduction in the clothing industry: mountains of garments, stored in warehouses and unsold, destined for incineration because they were the result of an economic system that produces far more than people’s real needs.
This is when he had an idea. He returned to his hometown, Prato, where a tradition of textile regeneration has existed for centuries, back when recycling was simply a matter of common sense. It was the perfect place to launch his project based on a clothing line made from regenerated fibres, grounded in ethical production and zero waste.
Thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign, Rifò was born and the first production of regenerated cashmere accessories began.
Today, Rifò products are sold online and in around 160 stores throughout Italy and 140 abroad, all businesses that have believed in this project for years as a new point of reference for Italian sustainable fashion.
Rifò garments are made with recycled and natural fibres so that they can be recycled again and are biodegradable. From the regeneration of wool, cashmere and denim to the creation of the finished garment, we are able to guarantee a Made in Italy product created at zero km. In fact, every piece is produced by local artisans, all within a radius of about 30 km from our office.
The process of recycling textile fibres allows for a drastic reduction in water and dye consumption, since old garments and industrial scraps are sorted by colour and material by the cenciaioli, the historic artisans of textile regeneration, before being recycled. This way, no new dyeing is necessary.
