A conversation with Sergio Risaliti, Manifattura Tabacchi Art Residencies curator and Director of Museo Novecento of Florence. Introduced by Paolo Parisi, Art Residencies tutor.

Rebecca Moccia

Rebecca Moccia was born in Naples in 1992. She currently lives and works in Milan. After graduating in Sculpture at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in 2014, she graduated in History of Art and Criticism at the State University of Milan. 

From 2012 she participated at several group exhibitions such as: L’intimità dell’immagine come luogo in comune (2012) curated by Gianni Caravaggio at ViaFarini, DOCVA, in Milan; Incontro (2013), curated by Bernard Rudiger and Gianni Caravaggio at Réfectoire des Nonnes, ENSBA in Lyon; Chaotic Passion (2015) curated by Anna Lovecchio and CHAN, Museo d’arte contemporanea di Villa Croce in Genoa; Throwing balls in the Air (2016) for the Academiae Youth Art Biennale curated by Christiane Rekade and Francesca Boenzi at the Bressanone Fortress / Franzenfeste; Io Sono Qui (2017) curated by Lorenzo Bruni, MACRO, Rome; More Than Words (2018) curated by Daniela Ferrari at Mazzoleni, London; Il Disegno politico italiano (2019) curated by Aurora Fonda and Sandro Pignotti, AplusA, Venice.

In 2015, her first solo exhibition Sempre più di questo, was curated by Lorenzo Bruni at the Galleria Massimodeluca in Mestre (VE), followed by Substantial with Ornaghi & Prestinari with the contribution of Ginevra Bria at the The Open Box space in Milan (2016); Cuore, curated by Stefano Giuri et Toast Project space in Florence (2019), Catarifrangente curated by Jessica Bianchera at Spazio Cordis, Verona (2019), and Da qui tutto bene curated by Sergio Risaliti at Museo Novecento in Florence (2019) and the project Rest your Eyes (2019) curated by Gaspare Luigi Marcone at Mazzoleni Turin. 

In 2018 she was one of the artists selected to participate at the CSAV, at Fondazione Antonio Ratti, Como. Currently Moccia is a fellow artist at Castro projects, Rome.

Parallel to her artistic production, Rebecca Moccia is working on artist-run projects as the three editions, from 2015 to 2017 of Studi Festival in Milan, and of FEA Lisboa during ARCOlisboa 2018-2019 as well as be an activist from AWI – Art Workers Italia.
