During these months in which it has been closed to the public, the Cortile della Ciminiera has been transformed into a garden, an open space which follows the rhythms of nature and was designed to be lived in. Together with the newly planted trees, there will be an area inside the square for public art, with large murals and ‘Arno – Imaginary Topography’ by the artist Andreco, alongside music and culture, giving life to a place where you can listen, relax, meet up, watch and learn, immersed in greenery.

This will also be the occasion for the presentation of NAM, a contemporary art platform. NAM, read aloud as Not A Museum, is dedicated to artistic experimentation, discussion, and production, providing a shared space in order to facilitate collaborations between artists, curators, scientists, architects, and independent and institutional actors.

The summer events programme for 2020 takes off on 24 June, brought to you in collaboration with numerous local organisations, and designed to bring together different points of view and activities, with speaking and listening taking a leading role, but also in anticipation of events that will be starting up again in September. A continual reflection on the roles of science, nature and art, with a week-long series of appointments, talks, shows and concerts lighting up the garden. A platform where cultural actors can meet and engage with the public, with care and attention to the necessary safety measures that allow for the reopening.

Alongside the opening of the garden and the summer events programme, you’ll have the chance to eat and drink with our partners Bulli&Balene and Soul Kitchen.

On the same day, there will also be the opening of the latest exhibition at TOAST Project Space by artist Marcello Spada, curated by Gabriele Tosi.
