From 25/09 to 1/10 ore 18:00-23:00 (last entry 22:15).

Oasi is a special project by performer and director Muna Mussie. Mussie is an artist from Eritrea who works in both Brussels and Bologna. She trained as an actress and performer at the Teatrino Clandestino and the Teatro Valdoca. As of 2006, Mussie has been writing her own performances: she combines various artistic disciplines, mixing different expressive languages, collaborations, and forms.

OASI will partake in a performance by Sherif Mussie and Muna Mussie on Friday 25 (21:00), Saturday 26 (19.30), and Sunday 27 September (21:00).

It will be possible to visit the installation until Thursday, 1 October (18:00-23:00, last entry 22:15).

OASI is a production by Città di Ebla and Santarcangelo Festival 2018 with support from Xing.

Access will be in full compliance with the measures that the Italian government is taking to combat the spread of COVID-19.

My previous piece ‘Milite Ignoto’ ends with certain considerations that my grandmother Milite, the narrative voice, makes on the figure of the ‘ghost’; she believes that with the creation and expansion of cities, ghosts — like animals — have no place to hide.
Oasi, my new project, was inspired by these thoughts; I ask myself what an oasis is:
Is it a source of water?
A mirage in a desert?
A tropical fruit juice?
An Autogrill on the highway?
A natural reserve?
A much-needed rest?
Or, perhaps, only an exotic and romantic idea?

My Oasi is a bubble, a transparent covering, an enclosed and self-contained microcosm that is, however, visibly exposed to the outside world, where the passage of time of two of its inhabitants attempts to evoke other places, other oases (ancient Thebes? modern-day Kufra?).
Perhaps the ghosts and animals hide in our fears and secret desires, as fuel that constantly feeds our economy. Oasi is the place in which we can welcome or release these fears.
Oasi recounts its own transience, it is an ode to escape — the escape of thought before this, too, transforms itself into something to be bought and sold.

MUNA MUSSIE

The work of Muna Mussie investigates the performing arts and the scenic languages to give shape to the tension that flows between different expressive poles, through gesture, vision and word. Among her productions: Più che piccola, media (2007), Con Permesso (2008), Ti ho sognato, ma non eri il protagonista (2010). She is co-author with Flavio Favelli of the collection of clothing FFMM (2007-2009). FFMM (2007-2009). Among the international projects: Monkey See, Monkey Do (Chapter I-II, 2011-2012); followed by the installation and performance Milite Ignoto (2015) and the performance Oasi (2018) investigating minor history and the phantasma. Visual interventions include the project Punteggiatura (2018) based on the practice of sewing, which sees the language as a political-affective space.
Her work has been presented at Art Fall/PAC Ferrara, Raum and Live Arts Week Bologna, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Torino, Museo Marino Marini Firenze, Workspace Brussels, MAMbo Bologna, Màntica Cesena, Santarcangelo Festival, Viafarini Milano, Ipercorpo Festival, Museion Bolzano, Festival Pergine Spettacolo, Sale Docks Venezia, ERT Bologna.
