OOH-sounds presents LET THE BODY a collaboration between choreographer and dance artist Fernanda Muñoz-Newsome, electronic music producer Shelley Parker with previous performances at Arnolfini, Trip Space and ICA and light artist Charlie Hope.

Let our bodies listen and dance. listening-dancing and dancing-listening as a political expression we each have access to, a movement surfacing from the unconscious, subconscious, conscious. dancing and deep listening as a collective and individual space of reorientation, clarification and pleasurable mess in disorienting times.
– Fernanda Muñoz-Newsome

Positioning dance as a form of political expression, the work considers what emerges through disorientation and reorientation around pleasure and permission in the body during a Pandemic. Letting go of prescribed social modes and exploring how a sense of knowing can be shifted, simultaneously reframing the body’s relationship to desire.

LET THE BODY asks what sensations, perceptions, thoughts and chemical/hormonal/cellular changes occur through submitting to dance, deep listening and music.

Concept, choreography + performance: Fernanda Muñoz-Newsome
Music score + performance: Shelley Parker
Light design: Charlie Hope

OOH-sounds has just released Shelley Parker’s music score for LET THE BODY as part of the Decouple ][ Series [OOH-020] a project that aims to showcase artists working, in their own ways, at the bold fringes of electronic composition. This fourth split-vinyl from the series is shared with Swedish producer Peder Mannerfelt and aligns around the desire to create music from the simplest set of sounds, and to make the most of joy and fun from basic elements.
