The “Grand Tour” is a term that has been used since 1600 to describe the journeys that young aristocrats used to make through Europe in order to become men of the world and gain an understanding of art. Italy was the most popular destination for these grand tours, which could last months or even years, thanks to a history that is rich in culture and classicism.
Departure at 18:30 in front of Manifattura Tabacchi, entrance in Via delle Cascine 35, with your own bicycle.

The Grand Tour by bike conceived by Iacopo and Francesco only takes a couple of hours, and instead of heading to more exotic destinations, it tells the now forgotten history of Florence’s neighbourhoods, a shorter but no less interesting journey. The whole route is guided and accompanied by a thematic soundtrack, and Francesco, professional actor, recounts the history step by step in a way that is both interactive and involving.
The stages form an itinerary for the discovery of incredible anecdotes, hidden away under the façade of a building we see every day, or the square that we pass through on the way to work, places that seem anonymous but which have actually seen important historical events.
“The project was created to rediscover the communities that made the fabric of the neighbourhood alive, that inhabited it and traced its peculiar characteristics, increasingly rare communities to both find and live in.”
Starting from this collective journey, the participants will once again find themselves a part of this little network of people, made up by those who have discovered these stories from the neighbourhood, and who will speak about them in turn.
This rediscovery of connections and rekindling of relationships is also a founding concept for the Manifattura, which is committed not only to regenerating the spaces of the former industrial complex, but to making them a vital and attractive place for the citizens: a place where the everyday and the extraordinary can come together, creating a living and innovative community.
